What the Community Can Build Together
The images below show the expansion project for the WakeMed Hospital at our Raleigh Campus. There are also direct links below to some of the rooms. Please note, these images are representations based on design plans and may not be identical to the completed project.
With the support of thousands of people like you from Wake County and surrounding communities, the new WakeMed Children's Hospital will occupy the entire 4th floor of the expanded hospital and will provide:
- New Patient Rooms: Hospitals can be scary places for children. That's why all of our hospital rooms are private and specially designed for children and their families. There is even a bed for Mom or Dad to stay.
- Treatment Room: For children who need minor procedures. They are done right on the unit in a specially designed space that preserves the "safe place" of their hospital room.
- Observation Rooms: Many children don't need an overnight stay but benefit from monitoring or additional testing. Observation Rooms provide a comfortable environment for them to stay.
- Family Area and Playroom: No one likes to spend long hours in the hospital. But our new family area, playroom and teen room are designed to make hospital visits more comfortable. The playroom is a perfect place for our patients and their brothers and sisters to play games, read books and stay entertained while at WakeMed.
- Pediatric Intensive Care: The most seriously ill children will be treated in a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, in an environment conducive to healing and family involvement and privacy.
- Intensive Care Nursery: An expanded Intensive Care Nursery provides extraordinary care for our most fragile and critically ill newborns.
Building the new Children's Hospital will require the support of everyone in our community.
Join us in the effort to build the new Children's Hospital at WakeMed.
